Registration

The paperwork to register for the classes I am going to take is in. I have spoken to the people at the Volunteers of America in Baton Rouge. This is the group that provides the classes to help people like me who want to be certified to be a caregiver.

I am registering to take the Orientation Class for a Family Home Provider. There are several interesting classes that pertain to taking care of an infant to toddler ages.
Common Objects, Fun Toys.
Marvelous Music and Movement
Space for Learning and Play
Movin and Groovin with Toddlers
Books and Stories for Infants and Toddlers
Let's Play

Tomorrow, I will send back my registration packet. Each class costs $10. A person has to take 12 clock hours in classes, to be certified. And re certify each year. As each class is usually just 3 hours, and the orientation class is 4 hours, you would end up with 13 clock hours. This will carry over to the next year.

You can take classes until your reach the 120 clock hours to become certified as a CDA.

I will take my first class in February. All classes are on Saturday mornings, so this will not be a problem finding someone to watch the baby while I attend class.

The Schedule is in

Wednesday I got the paperwork in. Rather interesting all the classes you can take. I do not think that I am taking all of the courses listed. I need the 6 hour class, that will certify me to do in home day care of my grandson. I will learn more about all of this on Monday. That is when I will call and reserve my class. I will also send in the registration fees.

Work AT Home Grandmoms

check it out

Monday

Well today I made the call to Volunteers of America located in Baton Rouge, LA.

I explained what I needed and they are sending me the schedule for classes and application to take the certification course. I hope to receive that by Wednesday.

I have been looking around on the net at different sites that are about grandparents who provide childcare for the grandchildren. I have found a few that appear to be based on my subject. Even found the one for Work at Home Grandmothers group on Ning. That seems very interesting. I have applied to join. We shall see

The Certification Process will begin Monday

Grandmothers who work at home, while taking care of their grandchildren. This is the title to my squidoo lens I started two days ago.

Monday I will make the call to the DSS to determine exactly what they need to become certified by the state so that I will be qualified to give child care to my grandson.

This blog is to give all of particulars to the actual certification needed.
